Tide is an installation where blue plastic-like slime drips from the wall and onto a board littered with beautified waste. The process involved is the attaching of fishing line one-by-one to a pegboard, decorating that pegboard with trash, and then layering it with slime. I want to show the issue of water contamination and ways everyday products, such as detergents, straws, and plastics, contribute to the problem of water pollution. Pollutants travel easily due to water currents, rivers, and streams, and have major impacts on the toxicity of the water, the health of the ecosystem, and even the safety of humans. Why do we continue to produce and dispose of trash in unhealthy ways? I want the viewer to question their use of trash and pollutants in everyday life and think about where those pollutants end up. I do not want to accuse the viewer, but instead allow them to explore the idea of water pollution.
